KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Area residents are being urged to stay alert as another wave of scam text messages circulates, this time pretending to come from the Savings Bank of Walpole. According to a recent advisory from the bank, customers have reported receiving fraudulent messages prompting them to click a link that leads to a fake website.

The bogus texts often contain several red flags: a phone number with a suspicious area code, a poorly formatted bank name, and an incorrect web address. Most critically, the bank emphasized that it never sends links via text and does not request personal information through text messages.

“If you get a text asking you to click a link and it claims to be from us, it’s a scam,” the bank warned. “Delete the message immediately.”

Legitimate fraud alerts from the bank will come from a five-digit number and will never include a clickable link. Customers are reminded to monitor their accounts closely, enable transaction alerts, and never share sensitive details like passwords, PINs, or banking credentials.

If you believe you may have clicked a suspicious link or shared personal information, contact the Savings Bank of Walpole immediately at 1-877-WALPOLE. Bank staff can help freeze cards, secure accounts, and walk you through any necessary next steps.
