HARTFORD, VT (MyKeeneNow) Two people from Rindge are facing charges in a Vermont shooting that left one man dead and a woman badly injured early Thursday morning.
Vermont State Police said Jeffrey Mullins, 46, and Michelle Mullins, 48, both of Rindge, were arrested as accessories before the fact in connection with the shooting. A third suspect, Demetrius Drew, 30, of New Haven, CT, was charged with first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident happened around 3:50 a.m. Aug. 21 at a home on Verna Court in Hartford. Police found 65-year-old David Labrecque of Canaan, N.H., dead at the scene, while 36-year-old Jessica Lemay, also of Canaan, was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., with multiple gunshot wounds. She is expected to survive.
All three suspects were ordered held without bail and were scheduled to appear Friday in Vermont Superior Court in White River Junction. Court filings detailing the state’s evidence are expected to be released following the arraignments.
Police emphasized that the shooting appears to be isolated and does not pose an ongoing risk to the public.
State police investigators continue to work with Hartford police on the case. Labrecque’s body was transported to Burlington for autopsy.
