BURLINGTON, VT (MyKeeneNow) A Swanzey man has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison for a 2024 crime spree in southeastern Vermont that included two bank robberies and an attempted hold-up at a marijuana dispensary.

Christopher Boisvert, 37, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Burlington to 74 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, according to court records. He must also pay $7,500 in restitution to the banks he robbed: $2,500 to TD Bank in Bellows Falls and $5,000 to Brattleboro Savings & Loan.

Boisvert pleaded guilty in June to one count of bank robbery by force. His co-defendant, Meghan Cox, 39, of Laconia, N.H., also pleaded guilty in June to her role in the case and is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.

The crime spree began on Aug. 26, 2024, when the pair attempted to rob Rolling Twenties, a marijuana dispensary in Rockingham, Vt. According to prosecutors, Boisvert threatened employees but fled empty-handed after the store’s security system disrupted the robbery attempt.

He then robbed TD Bank in Bellows Falls before moving on to Brattleboro Savings & Loan, making off with about $7,500 in total. Witnesses told police he was masked and armed. Authorities later found the pair’s getaway vehicle abandoned in Massachusetts. Boisvert and Cox later tried to cover their tracks by reporting the truck stolen and claiming they had been out hiking.

Chief U.S. District Judge Christina Reiss recommended Boisvert serve his sentence at FCI Berlin or another federal facility near New Hampshire so he can maintain contact with family. She also encouraged his participation in the Bureau of Prisons’ substance abuse treatment programs.

Boisvert was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service following Tuesday’s hearing.
