KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The Keene State College women’s basketball team beat the breaks off of Eastern Connecticut State University last night, winning 78-62 and securing the number three seed heading into the Little East Conference tournament.

Who else but Brynn Rautiola was the games’ leading scorer, as she dropped 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting, good for 69.2 percent, with six of those nine made baskets being 3-pointers. Rautiola has been dynamite all season long as a scorer, only having two games all season where she finished below double digits in points.

Coming into this game, the Owls had just exploded for their season high in points in their previous game against Western Connecticut State University with 98, but found themselves getting off to a slow start, not scoring until nearly three minutes into the game after Avery Stewart found the basket.

A 10-4 run that ended the quarter saw Keene State up four at the end of the first 10 minutes, and it never looked back, outscoring its opponent by 12 over the next 30 minutes, with the majority of the damage done in the second quarter.

Players other than Rautiola found themselves achieving milestones this game as well, as Ruby Dasaro moved into fourth place for steals in a single season in program history as she reached 73 steals in her sophomore season with her three steals on Wednesday evening. Valerie Luizzi moved into 13th place in the same record with her two steals.

Keene State returns home for its regular season finale for Senior Day as the Owls look to avenge their loss earlier in the season to Rhode Island College on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. The Little East Conference Tournament begins on Feb. 24, and as the No.3 seed, Keene State College’s first round matchup will take place in Keene, though its opponent has not yet been determined. If the Owls win that matchup, they will head to back to Rhode Island College on Feb. 26.
