KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A serious collision occurred at the intersection of Route 9 and Sullivan Road in Keene early this morning, leaving a motorcyclist with severe injuries.
The incident took place around 7:51 a.m. when Keene police and emergency services were dispatched to the scene, according to a news release.
The crash involved a Toyota Corolla, driven by 18-year-old Felicity Buffum of Keene, and a Kawasaki motorcycle traveling in opposite directions on Route 9. The preliminary investigation suggests that the Corolla was heading west when it collided with the motorcycle, which was traveling east.
The motorcyclist, whose identity has not been released, sustained significant injuries. After being treated on-site, he was transported to Cheshire Medical Center by Keene Fire Department’s ambulance. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
The Keene Police Department’s Collision Analysis Team is currently investigating the cause of the accident. Assistance at the scene was provided by the Keene Fire Department, New Hampshire Department of Transportation, and the Cheshire County Sheriff’s Department.
