KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Starting today, Keene’s West Street Well #1 will be taken offline for the fall and winter months.

This seasonal shutdown could cause temporary changes in water flow throughout the city’s distribution system, which may result in brief periods of discolored water for some residents, according to a news release.

If discoloration occurs, the City advises water users to flush their systems by running cold water from one tap for 10 minutes. If the water does not clear after this, residents should wait 30 minutes and try again. In cases where the issue persists, the Public Works Department encourages residents to contact their office at 352-6550.

For those who notice staining on laundry due to the water, the city provides a free cleaning product to remove the stains. Residents are reminded not to dry laundry if discoloration has occurred, and instead to visit the Public Works office at 350 Marlboro St. o pick up the stain remover.

Any questions or concerns can be directed to the Public Works Department for assistance.
