KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) After five years at the helm of one of the Monadnock region’s oldest and largest nonprofit organizations, Dan Smith, CEO of the Keene Family YMCA, will step down from his role on Nov. 22.
The announcement of his departure came in a letter from board chair Elana Baron.
Smith came to Keene in 2019 from Cadillac, MI, where he served as CEO of the Cadillac Area YMCA, a position he held for more than eight years.
Under his guidance, the organization recovered from a pandemic-related membership drop of more than 50 percent to reach record-high membership levels. His tenure has been marked by a commitment to serving the most vulnerable members of the community. The Keene Family YMCA serves more than 10,000 a year.
Smith will assume the role of CEO at the Greater Burlington YMCA in Vermont, starting Dec. 1.
As the YMCA prepares for this transition, the search for Smith’s successor is already underway.
