KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) Applying for building permits and navigating zoning requirements in Keene is getting a digital upgrade.
City officials announced Tuesday that a new online portal is now live, bringing permitting, licensing, and inspection services together in one place. The system is designed to make the process easier to understand and faster to complete for homeowners, contractors, and business owners alike.
According to the city’s Community Development Department, the change comes after feedback from users who wanted a more straightforward and accessible experience. The new platform walks applicants through each step of the process, outlining exactly what’s required for a project without unnecessary steps.
Community Development Director Paul Andrus said in a news release the effort is about improving how the city works with those investing in local projects and goes beyond introducing new technology. He described it as part of the city’s broader goal to work closely with residents and the construction community. He added that officials want people to feel confident and successful as they move through each stage of their projects.
City officials also credited the mayor and city council for backing the initiative, calling their support key to making the transition possible.
The new system is available now through the city’s website, where users can begin applications, track progress, and access guidance for their projects.
