KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) The defending champions of the Keene SwampBats are getting ready to return to Alumni Field for another summer season, with opening day scheduled for June 4 and a variety of new entertainment, promotions and community events planned throughout the year.

Team representatives Sarah Pelkey and Sarah Culp appeared Tuesday morning on WKBK Radio’s “Good Morning with Dan Mitchell” program to preview the upcoming season and discuss plans for the 2025 New England Collegiate Baseball League champions.

Opening night at Alumni Field will include a championship celebration sponsored by Monadnock Ford, featuring the team’s NECBL trophy, autograph opportunities and a raffle that could give one fan the chance to win a championship ring.

Pelkey said the organization ordered about 50 rings for players, coaches and board members following last season’s title run.

Culp said fans can also expect returning favorites and new attractions at home games this summer, including bounce houses, food vendors, photo opportunities and family activities aimed at making games more than just baseball.

Among the new additions this season are specialty vendors, fairy hair experiences and the “All Things Maple” food truck, which is expected to appear regularly at games.

The SwampBats are also continuing their “Reading with Ruby” literacy initiative, which saw record participation this year with nearly 2,400 students from 38 schools taking part. Celebration events for participating students are planned for June 9 and June 10.

The organization is still seeking about eight or nine host families to house players during the summer season. Host families receive benefits including admission to games and free baseball camp opportunities for children.

Team officials also highlighted upcoming youth baseball camps later in June and announced plans for special merchandise tied to the organization’s 30th anniversary season, including a limited-edition Fourth of July commemorative hat.
