PROVIDENCE, R.I. (MyKeeneNow) Four Keene State College student-athletes were honored by the Little East Conference for their achievements accomplished for the week of Sept. 23-28.
Men’s Soccer
Junior forward Cristian Correa (Londonderry, N.H.) was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week from his performance over the Owls’ two games in the week that saw KSC go 1-0-1. Correa excelled in the Owls’ 4-2 win over Fitchburg State University on Tuesday as he tallied a point in his fifth of eight games to open the 2025 season. In the contest, Correa tallied a pair of goals as he scored what wound up being the eventual game-winner for the Owls.
Senior goalkeeper Eldin Husanovic (Manchester N.H.) was named the LEC Goalie of the Week from his action seen for the Owls in goal in their 1-1 conference draw against the University of Massachusetts-Boston at home on Saturday afternoon. In the contest, Husanovic locked the Beacons down by making season-high seven saves, including back-to-back saves in the final 1:30 of the contest to help limit the Beacons to just one goal in the contest.
Correa, Husanovic, and the Owls return to action in a non-conference matchup at Rivier University on Wednesday, October 1, at 7:00 PM.
Men’s Golf
Freshman Taylor Miller, (Stoddard, N.H.) was named the Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week from his performance as he picked up his first career collegiate win at the Keene State Invitational on Thursday. On the rainy day on the course, Miller prevailed by shooting a two-over 73 as he won the invitational by a stroke. Miller recorded a par or better on 13 of his final 15 holes, to go with a pair of birdies on the day. KSC fell just short of New England College’s first-place finish of 307 as the Owls, led by Miller, finished with 308.
Miller and the Owls return to action on Thursday, October 9, for day one the LEC Championship at The Redding Country Club hosted by Western Connecticut State University.
Women’s Golf
Freshman Sadie Murray (Hampton, Conn.) was also named the LEC Rookie of the Week, for the second time on the season in just her three opportunities, along with the Player of the Week for the first time this season, as she led the Owls at the Keene State Invitational on Sunday. Murray placed fourth individually at the event as she shot an 87 (+15), while finishing just five strokes behind first place. Murray led the Owls on their way to a second-place finish as the team combined for a new program-record 373.
Murray and the Owls are back in action on Saturday, October 5, at 11:24 AM as the Owls will travel to Eastern Connecticut State University for the first-annual Warrior Invitational at the Tallwood Country Club.
