MARLBOROUGH, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A Deering, New Hampshire man is facing charges after leading local police on a pursuit, ending with a crash in Dublin.
According to a news release, at about 12:40 Monday afternoon Marlborough Police attempted to stop a gray Mazda sedan on Main Street in the area of Knowlton Street for a traffic violation.
The driver, only identified as a 20-year-old Deering man, refused to stop and led police on a pursuit onto Knowlton Street and Bush Street, which is a dead end. The driver then turned around and fled to NH Route 101, traveling eastbound toward the town of Dublin.
Marlborough Police coordinated with the Dublin Police Department to deploy spike strips to stop the vehicle. They were successfully deployed near MacVeagh Road in Dublin where the vehicle went off the road and into a large ditch.
After the crash the driver fled on foot, but was quickly taken into custody. The driver along with a female passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Marlborough police noted there were no other injuries reported and no property damage with the exception of a length of guardrail and the suspect’s vehicle.
The driver was found to be on federal probation and had just been released from custody on October 28. He was also out on bail for the offense of Riot in Rockingham County.
He’s being held on charges including Felony Reckless Operation and Felony Disobeying an Officer with serious bodily injury resulting in Monday’s incident.
