KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) East Surry Road and Court Street have been added to tonight’s overnight water system flushing schedule, which continues through early Friday morning.

Water system flushing will continue Thursday night beginning at 10 p.m., with East Surry Road and Court Street now added to the schedule.

The maintenance work is part of a routine program to remove mineral buildup from water mains while also exercising hydrants and valves to ensure they function properly during emergencies such as fires or water main breaks.

The first week of flushing is expected to wrap up by 6 a.m. Friday, April 24, though specific areas affected may vary depending on weather and equipment conditions. The full flushing process is expected to take three to four weeks.

Residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water during flushing. Officials recommend running cold water for about 10 minutes until it clears. If discoloration persists, residents should wait 30 minutes and try again.

Anyone experiencing laundry staining is advised not to dry affected items and to contact Public Works at 603-352-6550 for assistance and stain-removal products. For additional updates, visit the Keene Public Works page at https://mykeenenow.com/keene-public-works-updates/.
