SULLIVAN, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A teenager was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Route 9 in Sullivan early Monday morning.

Sullivan Fire and Rescue (SFR) and the N.H. State Police responded to the scene of the accident, which occurred around 4:30 a.m. near Valley Road and involved a 2023 Toyota Tacoma driven by Ayslin Claudio, 19, of Chichester according to a news release this afternoon from the N.H. State Police.

When they arrived, the driver was still inside the vehicle.

SFR says the vehicle had been reported traveling at a high rate of speed in Stoddard, and failed to negotiate a sharp corner at the bridge in Sullivan.

The vehicle left the roadway, struck a large boulder, and rolled multiple times. Fire and EMS personnel from Sullivan Fire & Rescue (SFR) and the Keene Fire Department had to extract Claudio from the heavily damaged vehicle, the release said.

The driver is estimated to have been driving 70+ miles per hour in a posted 45 mile per hour zone. SFR believes speed and reckless driving was the cause of the crash.

Initial reports indicated that there was a passenger who was ejected from the vehicle but a thorough search of the surrounding area turned up empty.

Claudio was initially transported by medical helicopter to Concord Hospital as a precaution but was later transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for further treatment due to the severity of her injuries.

Route 9 was closed for several hours as first responders conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. The New Hampshire State Police continue to investigate the incident. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact Trooper Troy Couillard at Troy.J.Couillard@dos.nh.gov or 358-3333.
