(MyKeeneNow) – A couple is facing federal charges related to two bank robberies and an attempted hold-up at a marijuana dispensary in southeastern Vermont. Christopher Boisvert, 37, and Meghan Cox, 39, were indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with the Aug. 26 crimes, which spanned multiple towns and left authorities on high alert.

The pair, who had been staying at a seasonal campground in Swanzey at the time of the robberies according to court documents, appeared briefly before a federal magistrate in Burlington last week, where the U.S. Attorney’s Office argued for their continued detention, citing them as both a flight risk and a danger to the public. Boisvert and Cox are charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, following a failed attempt to steal marijuana and money from a dispensary, as well as armed robberies at two banks in Bellows Falls and Brattleboro.

They started by attempting to rob Rolling Twenties Dispensary in Rockingham. According to court documents, they demanded marijuana and cash but fled empty-handed after being thwarted by the dispensary’s security system. Boisvert reportedly threatened employees, claiming he knew where they lived and would come after them if they didn’t comply.

Shortly after, Boisvert is accused of robbing the TD Bank in Bellows Falls and Brattleboro Savings and Loan, making off with $2,500 and $5,000, respectively. In both cases, he allegedly threatened bank employees, claiming he was armed. Video footage from the scenes and witness descriptions linked the suspects to a blue Chevrolet Silverado, registered to Boisvert.

Following a brief pursuit by the Cheshire County Sheriff’s Department, the getaway truck was found abandoned in Athol, MA. Boisvert later reported the vehicle stolen, though police soon located the couple at a campground in Swanzey, New Hampshire. A search of the truck revealed a knife matching the one seen during the robberies.

Both Boisvert and Cox have pleaded not guilty to the charges. They are scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Burlington this afternoon for a detention hearing.
