WINCHENDON, M.A. (MyKeeneNow) – Fire crews from across the Monadnock Region responded to a second alarm blaze Christmas Eve morning that destroyed a home.
According to a news release from the Winchendon, Massachusetts Fire Department, the fire at 715 School Street was reported at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and a first alarm was struck.
First responders arrived on scene and found heavy fire through the roof and the rear of the residence that was spreading quickly, and a second alarm was requested along with a tanker shuttle group for water due to the residence being outside of the hydrant district.
All occupants were accounted for as crews began battling the blaze.
As of early Thursday morning, a GoFundMe campaign for the family has raised nearly $16,000 of its $50,000 goal.
“…yesterday was one of the worst days we have been through, as we lost our entire home, memories, and belongings to a fire the morning of Christmas eve,” Jessie Bigwood said in the campaign.
Bigwood said the family includes two children, twin 22-month-old boys, along with 20-year-old and 18-year-old boys.
