KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – The City of Keene is studying parking trends and needs in the downtown area and is looking for feedback from the community.

The city has opened a FlashVote survey and is asking anyone who lives in, works in, or visits Keene to take the short survey, which will remain open until the end of the week.

The survey is five questions long and take a few minutes to complete. It will ask how much additional time or money would you pay for easier parking in downtown Keene, how long you park for typical trips downtown, when you think the hardest time of day is to find parking downtown, and if you worry about finding parking and utilize the lots off Main Street such as the Commercial and Gilbo Street lots.

The final question includes a freeform text box that allows participants to enter additional thoughts and comments.

The city conducted a similar survey last month, that showed minimal concerns over parking in downtown Keene. Some responses from that survey suggested building a parking garage. At the time Public Works Director Don Lussier said that a consultant has been working on conducting a needs assessment for a parking structure. After that is completed the last step of the process is a financial feasibility study. That will examine things like construction costs, financing alternatives, revenue projections, and operating costs.

Lussier said once all of that information is put together the Public Works Department will present all of the findings to the City Council with recommendations for next steps.

The deadline for this survey is April 4th. More information and a link to the survey can be found on the city’s website.
